The design was influenced by a portrait of Danish merchants sitting in Chinese Ming chairs. For maximum stability and comfort, Wagner developed the recognizable Y-shape that awarded the chair with its famous nickname. The chair is made of solid wood, the seat is hand-woven paper ropes. The paper ropes come from sustainable forests in Sweden and are extremely strong. Before weaving, they are coated with a layer of fine wax for high durability that allows cleaning if necessary. It is a durable and natural material as the interwoven wood around it. It is airy and preserves an ideal temperature.
